Attack narrative

The npm postinstall hook runs automatically. It builds an install deduplication key from the local hostname and username, adds MCP-client detection and platform metadata, and sends that payload to the publisher's Convex service. The telemetry call is intentionally non-blocking and suppressed on failure, so installation continues without surfacing whether data was sent.

Rationale

This package performs undisclosed, automatic install-time collection and remote transmission of a machine fingerprint. Its explicit agent configuration command is user-invoked, but that does not mitigate the postinstall exfiltration.
