Attack narrative

The package manifest invokes dist/postinstall.js during installation. That hook derives a fingerprint from the local hostname and username, labels it as an install event, and passes it to the funnel client. The funnel client serializes the fingerprint and related metadata into a POST request to the configured Convex endpoint. The request is enabled unless an environment variable was set in advance, so ordinary installation discloses the identifier before the user invokes the package CLI.

Rationale

The automatic lifecycle hook exfiltrates a hostname-and-username identifier to a remote endpoint. This is concrete unconsented data collection at install time, not required for installation.
