AI Security Review
scanned 6d ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe package runs a usage statistics command from a new postinstall hook, even after invoking that tool’s disable command. The tool’s source is unavailable, so this is suspicious install-time telemetry rather than a confirmed malicious data transfer.
Static reason
One or more suspicious static signals were detected.
Trigger
Package installation.
Impact
The install-time telemetry behavior and any data transmission are unknown, so this warrants a warning.
Mechanism
The hook first runs `npm-usage-stats disable`, then runs `npm-usage-stats` regardless.
AI rationale
The package runs a usage statistics command from a new postinstall hook, even after invoking that tool’s disable command. The tool’s source is unavailable, so this is suspicious install-time telemetry rather than a confirmed malicious data transfer.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Suspicious at 91.0% confidence as Dangerous Capability with medium false-positive risk.
Evidence for warning
- The package runs `node postinstall.js` automatically during installation.
- The postinstall hook executes `npm-usage-stats disable` and then runs `npm-usage-stats`.
- The optional `@jmfe/npm-usage-stats-tool` dependency is specified as `latest`; its source was unavailable to verify collection or transmission behavior.
Evidence against
- The reviewed package source does not establish what data the usage statistics tool collects or which hosts it contacts.
- The manifest describes a React component library, and the inspected runtime environment references concern Taro platform selection.
