## Security analysis

### Published attack-surface review

- **Summary:** No attack identified. The package provides a Next.js verification and policy adapter.

- **Trigger:** Creating a Posterna instance or handling a request through the middleware.

- **Impact:** No malicious impact identified; counter data is documented as aggregated and excludes addresses, URLs, and header values.

- **Review source:** ai\_review

- **Reviewed:** 2026-10-29T16:42:45.339Z

### AI review details

- **Review stage:** source\_first\_review

- **Mechanism:** Reads the configured policy file, refreshes signed directory data from its service, and sends aggregated counters there only when a site key is configured.

- **Rationale:** The package has no install hooks, and its runtime behavior matches its stated Next.js verification purpose. Its core documents the counter data and destination, and sends no counters without a configured site key.

- **Files touched:** agents.yaml (read by default when creating an instance)

- **Network endpoints:** https://posterna.com/v1/

### Review decision

- **Verdict:** Clean

- **Confidence:** 96.0%

- **Recommended action:** mark\_clean

## Counters

`createCounters({ sdk, source: engine })` aggregates requests by hour, verdict, reason code, operator, agent, purpose, path group, action and enforced. With a site key (`POSTERNA_SITE_KEY`) it sends them to the Posterna cloud every 60 seconds and on exit, and applies the cloud's monitor override to the engine. Without one it sends nothing. Recording never blocks or slows a request, and no address, URL or header value is ever kept or sent. The adapters set this up for you.
