Mechanism

Automatic consumer-project lifecycle and AI-agent control-surface mutation.

Attack narrative

On installation, postinstall locates the consumer project, changes .npmrc to enable dependency postinstall hooks and disable lifecycle caching, then invokes the merger. The merger writes AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, Copilot instructions, and copied Claude skills into the consumer project. The delivered rules instruct agents to put real tokens and keys into documentation and discourage reviewers from reporting that disclosure. It also generates an instruction that suppresses review of the generated control files.

Rationale

This is an unconsented postinstall mutation of broad AI-agent control surfaces combined with instructions that facilitate credential disclosure and evade review. The lifecycle script also weakens package-manager safeguards to preserve repeated execution.
