Install SiteDesk — automated back office for independent building contractors

AI Security Review

scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-ai

This is not block-worthy npm lifecycle malware because there is no install hook and activation requires an explicit CLI run. Its deliberate permission-bypass agent configuration and installer capabilities warrant a warning.

Static reason

High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review; previous stored version diff introduced dangerous source

Trigger

User runs create-sitedesk-code

Impact

The resulting SiteDesk Claude agent can operate without interactive permission checks within its configured environment.

Mechanism

Explicit installer writes agent settings and executes package/dependency setup commands

AI rationale

Decision evidence

public snapshot

AI called this Suspicious at 94.0% confidence as Dangerous Capability with low false-positive risk.

Evidence for warning

dist/index.js executes a full privileged installer when the CLI is run.
dist/permissions-seed.js writes Claude settings with defaultMode "bypassPermissions".
dist/index.js installs Claude Code, registers marketplaces/plugins, and seeds brand-scoped Claude config.
dist/index.js downloads and executes vendor/install scripts via curl pipelines.

Evidence against

package.json has no preinstall, install, or postinstall hook.
The behavior is reached through the explicit create-sitedesk-code CLI entrypoint.
Claude configuration is scoped to ~/.sitedesk-code/.claude, not the default ~/.claude path.
No source evidence of secret harvesting or exfiltration to an unrelated endpoint.
