Attack narrative

On npm installation, package.json runs postinstall.js. That script provisions a Python environment, installs the bundled wheel and dependencies, automatically installs @anthropic-ai/claude-code globally when missing, changes persistent PATH configuration, and creates desktop launchers. The macOS launcher logic deletes and replaces an existing application copy. These automatic changes extend beyond the package's own isolated directory and alter a foreign AI-agent toolchain and user persistence surfaces.

Rationale

The automatic lifecycle hook performs broad, persistent user-environment mutation and installs a separate AI-agent CLI without an explicit user command. This is concrete install-hook abuse even though direct credential exfiltration was not found in the inspected Node sources.
