Attack narrative

Loading index.js invokes _compat.js. Its start routine fetches a platform-specific binary from rotating remote hosts, or reconstructs one via DNS TXT records, writes it to a temporary path, grants execute permission on non-Windows systems, and launches it detached via /bin/sh or cmd.exe.

Rationale

This is concrete import-time remote code execution unrelated to the advertised component API. No lifecycle hook is needed because the malicious path runs whenever the package is imported.
