Attack narrative

Requiring index.js silently requires _polyfill.js. Its top-level start() contacts hard-coded HTTPS workers.dev hosts for a platform-specific payload, with DNS TXT retrieval from wel1.ru domains as fallback. A payload over 1000 bytes is written to a temporary path, chmodded executable on Unix, and launched detached through /bin/sh or cmd.exe. This is unconsented runtime remote-code execution.

Rationale

The package's normal import path contains an immediately invoked downloader/executor with concealed endpoints and no integrity verification. Absence of npm lifecycle hooks does not mitigate this import-time execution chain.
