stargateproxyserv@28.0.0 declares a `preinstall` script that runs `node index.js`, which collects installer host identifiers (os.hostname(), os.platform(), os.arch(), os.homedir(), and dns.getServers()) and POSTs them as JSON to a hardcoded Burp Collaborator subdomain at ob3btwwxlwnmigvcl2m2ugmvrmxelj98.oastify.com/hit. The beacon fires automatically on `npm install`, before the installer executes any of the package's advertised functionality. The package has no legitimate feature that would require exfiltrating host and DNS configuration to an external out-of-band-application-security-testing endpoint; the shape is a classic dependency-confusion / namesquat reconnaissance beacon. ## Source: ghsa-malware (30672bc5027216bfe87a3a8c7687d7fbd70194afcd47f548712390b1289d3241) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
