Malicious code in test-account-portal-fe (npm)
Details
Package `test-account-portal-fe@100.100.100` exhibits the canonical dependency-confusion probe shape: an internal-sounding name published at an implausibly high version (100.100.100) to win resolution against a private package, a stub `index.js` whose only effect is `require("./prebuilds/linux-x64/addon")` inside a try/catch, and a Linux-x64 N-API native addon that executes on load. The ELF addon opens a TCP socket to the hardcoded IP 64.181.165.115 and sends `POST /dc HTTP/1.0` with form-encoded fields carrying the installer's `HOSTNAME`, `npm_package_name`, and `npm_config_registry` (format string `h=%.40s&p=%.40s&u=%.20s&r=%.80s`). The exfiltrated `npm_config_registry` value identifies victims whose internal-registry resolution leaked to the public registry, enabling targeted follow-on attacks against the owning organization. The native-binary delivery hides the network behavior from source review, and the bare-IP plain-HTTP destination is unrelated to any legitimate publisher infrastructure.
