An automatic installation hook modifies files in the consuming project. It destroys existing styling and replaces application entry files while adding package-controlled build configuration.

Static reason

High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; previous stored version diff introduced dangerous source

Trigger

npm installs the package and runs its postinstall lifecycle hook.

Impact

A dependency installation can silently replace consumer application code and configuration, causing loss of user changes and persistent package control of the build path.

Mechanism

The hook locates the consumer project, writes CSS, main.tsx, App.tsx, package.json, and vite.config.ts, then installs its build plugin into the consumer configuration.

Attack narrative

Installing the package automatically runs a postinstall script against the consumer project. It clears existing CSS, overwrites the consumer entry files, edits package.json, and patches Vite to load the package's plugin. These changes occur without an explicit setup command and place consumer build behavior under package-controlled code.

AI rationale

The package performs destructive, broad consumer-project mutation from an automatic install hook. This is a concrete unconsented install-time attack surface even though the inspected hook did not show credential exfiltration.
