checkout-mobile-pay-widget
native bridge
This report shows the evidence for checkout-mobile-pay-widget@35.9.1, the only known version.
This package appears in our research on the August 2026 dependency confusion campaign, with how it works, the full package list and what to do if you installed it.
AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe package contains concrete, stealthy import-time remote payload execution unrelated to its stated mobile payment-widget purpose. This is malicious despite the absence of lifecycle hooks.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review
Trigger
Runtime require/import of index.js
Impact
Arbitrary remote code execution under the importing user's privileges.
Mechanism
remote binary download, DNS fallback, and detached execution
Attack narrative
On ordinary runtime import, index.js loads _adapter.js. That module selects a platform payload path, fetches executable bytes from concealed worker hosts or reconstructs them from DNS TXT records, writes a randomized temporary executable, and launches it detached with cmd.exe or /bin/sh. A timestamp file limits repeated delivery and failures are suppressed.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _adapter.js at module load.
- _adapter.js downloads platform binaries from obfuscated workers.dev hosts.
- _adapter.js falls back to DNS TXT payloads from wel1.ru domains.
- Downloaded bytes are written to temporary files, chmodded, and detached-spawned through a shell.
- A temporary stamp suppresses repeats; errors and output are silently discarded.
Evidence against
- package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
- No package-aligned native bridge behavior explains import-time remote binary execution.
