AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe import-time downloader and detached execution form a concrete remote-code-execution chain, independent of npm lifecycle hooks. The larger telemetry file contains a similarly capable configurable loader but is not needed to establish the attack.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review
Trigger
Runtime import/require of the package entrypoint.
Impact
Unconsented arbitrary native code execution on the importing host.
Mechanism
Remote binary download, temp-file drop, chmod, and detached shell execution.
Attack narrative
Requiring index.js invokes _vendor.js automatically. That module selects a platform-specific endpoint, downloads a binary from obfuscated workers.dev hosts or DNS TXT records, saves it under a temporary filename, makes it executable on Unix, and launches it detached through /bin/sh or cmd.exe. A temporary timestamp file only throttles repeats; it does not require user consent.
AI rationale
The import-time downloader and detached execution form a concrete remote-code-execution chain, independent of npm lifecycle hooks. The larger telemetry file contains a similarly capable configurable loader but is not needed to establish the attack.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _vendor on package import.
- _vendor.js downloads platform binaries from four workers.dev hosts.
- _vendor.js has DNS TXT payload fallbacks under wel1.ru.
- _vendor.js writes, chmods, and detached-spawns the downloaded binary.
- Execution is automatic and errors are suppressed.
Evidence against
- package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
- No credential harvesting or AI-agent control-surface writes found.
