This report shows the evidence for claims-jira-service@35.8.3, the only known version.
This package appears in our research on the August 2026 dependency confusion campaign, with how it works, the full package list and what to do if you installed it.
AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe malicious execution chain is directly reachable from the main entrypoint and requires no user opt-in. No integrity verification is performed despite the source comment claiming one.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.
Trigger
Any runtime require/import of claims-jira-service
Impact
Arbitrary native code execution as the importing process user.
Mechanism
remote payload download, disk drop, chmod, and detached shell execution
Attack narrative
index.js loads _ext.js during ordinary import. _ext.js fetches a platform-specific payload from rotating workers.dev endpoints or reconstructs one from DNS TXT records, writes it to a temporary directory, marks it executable on Unix, and launches it detached through /bin/sh or cmd.exe. Its telemetry labels and opt-out variables do not change that executable-payload chain.
AI rationale
The malicious execution chain is directly reachable from the main entrypoint and requires no user opt-in. No integrity verification is performed despite the source comment claiming one.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _ext.js on every package import.
- _ext.js downloads platform binaries, including from workers.dev hosts.
- _ext.js falls back to DNS TXT payload retrieval from wel1.ru domains.
- Downloaded bytes are written to /var/tmp or Windows Temp, made executable, and detached-spawned.
- Payload activity is hidden: errors/logging are suppressed and a temporary stamp throttles reruns.
Evidence against
- package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
- No AI-agent control-surface behavior was found.
