AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe malicious chain is import-reachable and independently confirmed in source. The lack of lifecycle hooks does not mitigate automatic runtime execution.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.
Trigger
require/import of index.js
Impact
Arbitrary remote code executes under the importing user's privileges.
Mechanism
remote binary download, temporary-file drop, detached execution
Attack narrative
On ordinary package import, index.js silently loads _helpers.js. That helper fetches a platform-specific opaque payload from obfuscated worker hosts, or reconstructs it from DNS TXT records, saves it to a temporary executable path, and launches it detached via cmd.exe or /bin/sh. This is unauthenticated remote code execution, not telemetry.
AI rationale
The malicious chain is import-reachable and independently confirmed in source. The lack of lifecycle hooks does not mitigate automatic runtime execution.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _helpers.js on every package import.
- _helpers.js downloads platform binaries from worker hosts.
- It falls back to DNS TXT payload retrieval from well1.site domains.
- Downloaded bytes are written to temp, chmodded, and detached-spawned.
- No integrity/signature validation is performed before execution.
Evidence against
- package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
- No AI-agent configuration or credential harvesting was found.
