This is a concrete import-time staged payload loader and arbitrary code execution chain, unrelated to the advertised wrapper functionality. Absence of an npm lifecycle hook does not mitigate runtime import execution.

Static reason

High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review

Trigger

Runtime import/require of the package.

Impact

Arbitrary remote code executes with the privileges of the importing process.

Mechanism

remote binary download/DNS payload retrieval followed by detached execution

Attack narrative

On import, index.js loads _platform.js, which immediately invokes init(). It contacts hard-coded worker hosts for a platform-specific binary and can reconstruct one from DNS TXT records. If the payload is sufficiently large, it saves it in a temporary directory, makes it executable on Unix, and starts it detached through a shell or cmd.exe.

Decision evidence

public snapshot

AI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.

Evidence for block

index.js imports _platform.js on every package import.
_platform.js downloads platform-specific binary payloads over HTTPS.
_platform.js falls back to DNS TXT Base64 payload retrieval.
Downloaded bytes are written to temp storage, chmodded, and detached-spawned.
Endpoints and payload logic are obscured by string concatenation.

Evidence against

package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
No credential harvesting or AI-agent configuration mutation found.
