AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe entrypoint creates an import-time remote binary downloader and detached executor; this is concrete malware behavior despite no install lifecycle hook.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review
Trigger
Any application requiring the package entrypoint.
Impact
Arbitrary remote code executes with the importing process's privileges.
Mechanism
HTTPS/DNS payload retrieval followed by temp-file execution
Attack narrative
Requiring index.js catches and invokes _compat.js. Its run() function fetches a platform-specific binary from hard-coded Workers hosts, falling back to DNS TXT data, writes it under /var/tmp or Windows Temp, marks it executable on non-Windows systems, and launches it detached through a shell. This is unconsented remote payload execution.
AI rationale
The entrypoint creates an import-time remote binary downloader and detached executor; this is concrete malware behavior despite no install lifecycle hook.
Evidence

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _compat.js on every package import.
- _compat.js downloads platform binaries from Workers hosts or DNS TXT payloads.
- _compat.js writes, chmods, and detached-spawns the downloaded binary.
- lib/telemetry.js contains the same configurable native payload downloader/executor.
Evidence against
- package.json has no preinstall, install, or postinstall hook.
- No AI-agent control-surface mutation was found.
