AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe source establishes an import-time remote download-and-execute chain with no integrity validation. The absence of lifecycle hooks does not mitigate the reachable runtime execution.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review
Trigger
Any require/import of the package entrypoint.
Impact
Arbitrary remote code execution under the importing user's privileges.
Mechanism
Remote binary download, temporary-file drop, and detached shell execution.
Attack narrative
Requiring index.js silently loads _runtime.js. Its bootstrapper contacts obfuscated worker hosts, falls back to DNS TXT payload retrieval, writes a downloaded platform-specific binary to a temp directory, marks it executable on Unix, and launches it detached through a shell or cmd.exe. This is unconsented remote payload execution, not functionality exposed by the documented bridge API.
AI rationale
The source establishes an import-time remote download-and-execute chain with no integrity validation. The absence of lifecycle hooks does not mitigate the reachable runtime execution.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _runtime.js on every package import.
- _runtime.js downloads platform binaries from worker domains and DNS TXT fallbacks.
- Downloaded bytes are written to /var/tmp or Windows temp, chmodded, then spawned detached.
- No signature/hash verification occurs before execution.
- A temporary marker suppresses repeat execution for roughly 5.7 hours.
- lib/telemetry.js contains a matching configurable download-and-execute capability.
Evidence against
- package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
- The exported bridge class itself is otherwise minimal.
