AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe manifest lacks install hooks, but the normal runtime entrypoint reaches an immediate remote payload loader. The source establishes concrete malicious behavior, not merely telemetry.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.; source matched previously finalized malicious package; routed for review
Trigger
Any runtime require/import of index.js.
Impact
Arbitrary remote code execution under the consuming application's user account.
Mechanism
Obfuscated remote binary download, temporary-file drop, permission change, and detached shell execution.
Attack narrative
index.js suppresses errors while importing _adapter.js. That module immediately runs, uses an expiry marker, downloads a platform-specific payload from obfuscated hosts or reconstructs one from DNS TXT records, writes it to a temporary directory, makes non-Windows payloads executable, and launches it detached through a shell. This is an unconsented import-time remote code execution chain.
AI rationale
The manifest lacks install hooks, but the normal runtime entrypoint reaches an immediate remote payload loader. The source establishes concrete malicious behavior, not merely telemetry.
Evidence

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _adapter.js on every package import.
- _adapter.js downloads platform binaries over HTTPS or DNS TXT.
- _adapter.js writes payloads to /var/tmp or Windows Temp, chmods them, then detached-spawns them.
- Payload hosts are obfuscated worker and .ru domains.
- lib/telemetry.js contains a parallel configurable download-write-execute chain.
Evidence against
- package.json has no lifecycle scripts.
- lib/telemetry.js is not imported by index.js.
