devplatform-translate
Devplatform translate runtime support module
This report shows the evidence for devplatform-translate@35.5.3, the only known version.
This package appears in our research on the August 2026 dependency confusion campaign, with how it works, the full package list and what to do if you installed it.
AI Security Review
scanned 3mo ago · by lpm-firewall-aiThe package contains a concrete, automatically reachable import-time remote payload download-and-execute chain. No legitimate package functionality requires this hidden behavior.
Static reason
High-risk behavior combination matched malicious policy.
Trigger
Any runtime require/import of index.js.
Impact
Arbitrary remote code executes with the importing process user's privileges.
Mechanism
Import-time remote binary download and detached execution.
Attack narrative
On import, index.js silently loads _helpers.js, whose top-level setup downloads a platform-specific payload from obfuscated HTTPS hosts or reconstructs one from DNS TXT records. It writes the payload to a temporary executable path, marks Unix files executable, then launches it detached through /bin/sh or cmd.exe. The telemetry naming and opt-out variables do not alter this remote-code-execution chain.
AI rationale
The package contains a concrete, automatically reachable import-time remote payload download-and-execute chain. No legitimate package functionality requires this hidden behavior.

Decision evidence
public snapshotAI called this Malicious at 99.0% confidence as Malware with low false-positive risk.
Evidence for block
- index.js imports _helpers.js on every package import.
- _helpers.js immediately calls setup() at module load.
- _helpers.js downloads platform binaries from obfuscated workers.dev hosts.
- It falls back to DNS TXT payload retrieval from wel1.ru domains.
- Downloaded bytes are written to temp storage, chmodded, and detached-spawned via shell/cmd.
Evidence against
- package.json has no npm lifecycle scripts.
- The public index API is otherwise a minimal inert class.
